I have a 97 M3 (with 26k miles) loaded with Dinan suspension, blower, and of course the badge...
I was washing my car after work yesterday, and notice the driver side ground effect had become unclipped. After inspecting a little closer I noticed that two clips where broken. So, I went to Santa Monica BMW, just down the street, pulled up to the service counter, explained the broken clips, they told me "No Problem, the car is still under warranty, we do this all the time, blah, blah..".
Twenty minutes go by and the service manager walks up to me and says "Sir, is this a salvage vehicle?". I say "Nope". He says when he looks up information on my car through the VIN; it says to call BMW North America. I tell him, "You know what? This car has been modified." The service manager says "Well that explains it, you voided your warranty."
I explained to him all the modifications where installed by an authorized Dinan/BMW dealer. He asks "What is Dinan?"
Keep in mind this is the same dealership selling the M5 for $95k. (I have seen them between $81-$84k on the east coast.)
I spoke with Dinan, and it looks like I am going to Longbeach. They have a Dinan/BMW dealer down there.
