The DME in a 3.2L M3 has a counter to keep track of how many times it allows it to be reprogrammed. I believe it begins at 13 and counts down. So far, your BMW tech is correct......

But JimC's OBDII reprogramming procedure does not decrement this counter. Hence, you could reprogram your car with JimC's software 50 times, and the counter wouldn't change. I don't know if Dinan's reprogramming changes the counter though.

I heard from a BMW tech that the shark injector takes up one of the 13 flashes on the DME and the Dinan doesn't. Does the Jim C. software really do this? I am concerned because I have already had 2 factory software updates and who knows how many more.
