the fact that anywhere else in the world a Lexus is a Toyota, Acura is a Honda and Infinity is a Datsun/Nissan. The reason is pure marketing to silly American brand whores. The name change alone cheapens a car that already suffers from the lack of heritage (aside from the B-210 or Carona).
The other problem is the fact that cars like the ES300 are merely re-skinned pimped out Camarys. GM got a lot of crap for reskinned Cavilers and Novas(granted crap in crap out unlike Jap cars)
BMW builds cars (minus the X5) from a ground up perspective.
I could be wrong and probably am........

just thoguht you guys would like to know, i went for a test drive today at the lexus dealership, and came back very surprised. i had alot of pre-conceptions about lexus's before i went in there, but that changed. to cut to the point, i was very surprised in the IS. it has a very strong I6, not as powerful as our M's, but enough for everyday driving. the handling was very comparable to my M3\4, which is stock. all togther it is a very nice package, i got a price of 34635 loaded with a limited slip. for that price, it blows the M3 away, with half the options that the M3 has are stock on the IS. so, as i said earlier, it is a very nice car for the price, and i would consider it as a replacement for my M3 when my lease is up. just thought you guys would like to know.
