solder cannot be used for any connections that move. i.e. a free flexible unsecured wire harness as is used all over your car. the movement will eventually break the solder joint because, as i said before, solder creates a stress concentration. solder is fine for circuit boards because there is no movement or flexing. solder joints can be made just as fast as crimp connections. just ask intel.
