I heard from a BMW tech that the shark injector takes up one of the 13 flashes on the DME and the Dinan doesn't. Does the Jim C. software really do this? I am concerned because I have already had 2 factory software updates and who knows how many more.
ANY OBD-II DME reprogramming will use up an erase/program cycle for the Flash EEPROMs (JimC - Injector or "send-it-in", Dinan, etc.)
Typically, most Flash EEPROMs can handle 10,000 erase/program cycles. Newer ones up to 100,000 cycles. Dunno if the DME restricts the number of re-programms, but I wouldn't think so (who knows how many updates there might be over the life of the car?)
Hope that helps,
