Replaced the tweeters and the kickpanel woofer with ADS components. Screws and everything lined up perfectly. The installed said "it seems like it was made for this car" since all the parts just snapped right in. BTW: Used the stock locations for the tweets.

With the stock speakers, mids were lacking without the rears. With the ADS that problem has been 100% solved. If you were in the car (which you might want to listen to) it feels as if the bass is coming from the front. No one would have clue that there are no rear speakers.

I haven't spent much time adjusting the amp setting to accomodate the new setup....but things sound damn good with what little playing I have done.

I tested both the 235IS and the 325IS (or 335, can't remember) . The 325/335 are a crisper and clearer sound but costs a boat load more. In the M3, with all the noise the car makes at speed, I didn't think the additional sound quality was worth it. Can always use the cash to buy a new head unit some day.

Very happy with the change.

I finally decided to put new speakers in the front locations. I choose ADS 235i (2 way).

I now have Steathboxes in the back, a Kicker amp and ADS in the front.

The speaker made an unbelievable difference.

Note: The stock head unit blows for FM sound, but is quite good for CD sound.

You can crank the music to the point were you can't hear anything (and probably beyond) including the engine and the sound is perfectly clear.

I did not get a higher end version of the ADS due to the high background noise in the M3.

FYI: The stock speakers are unbelieveable crap. As upgrading the stock head unit makes a night and day difference for FM sound, a change of speakers makes just as big a difference in sound all around.

Hey Bruce, Congratulations!!! Now that I upgraded my head unit to the Kenwood Excelon, along with matching cd changer, I'm thinking of doing the stealthboxes replacing the rear coaxials. For the amp, I'l do the Kenwood Excelon 4X75, which is strong enough to drive the fronts, and the rear subs...Which brings me to the fronts....I was going to do teh Mb Quart separates, but they stopped making the soundsets for our coupes. So, tell me about your ads...They are coaxial 2 ways, so you mounted them in teh stock kick panel locations? Are they 5 1/4 so they fit perfectly, or require fabricating? Do they give enough quality, so that you dont miss the mid fill the rears used to give, since all you now get is bass from back there? Thanks for the info...
