Humor me...cutting the factory springs wouldn't cause the car to bounce as the spring rates wouldn't change. The only concern should be bottoming out.

That is a horrible idea. Decreasing the length without increasing the spring rate will cause the car to bottom out and bounce. The handling will be adversly affected and you will cause premature wear to your shocks and struts.
If you are looking for a lower yet still plush ride I would look into a set of Euro M3 springs and the appropriate shocks.
