i dont think vinyl is a good heat insulator. i used a roll of flexible metal.. cost me $20 , but it works great

Constructed an intake shield using a 5 gallon vinyl planter. Actually works to reduce the heat on the intake ( I have a Dinan CAI). Looks like crap but it really reduces the heat (used to be the CAI was hot to touch). Cost was $2 from Home Depot. I would like to try to make another one that shields the HFM as well.
