I know that if I took care of and was proud of my car, I would try to get the most by selling it on my own - rather than give/trade it to a dealer.

The cars advertised there (by private owner) are usually cheaper than the dealer.

If you're worried about potential problems have the one(s) you're really interested in inspected by the local dealer. IMHO it's not worth the premium charged by dealer to get CPO BMW.

I got lucky using Autotrader. I had to travel 140 miles to get it but it was well worth it.
