I get the message intermittently - maybe once every few days in my 96 M3. When you say the dealer will fix it for free, do you mean because yours is under warranty, or was this a recall issue?

Brad

I got exactly the same message right after buying my car. First, make sure your brake lights actually work (they most likely do). Now call your dealer and set up an appointment to get it fixed for free. It's an electrical problem that BMW really should have gotten right the first time.

When I started my car last time it gave me "Check Brake Light Circuit" message. It also asked to refer to user's manual. I havn't got the chance to read it yet. Anyone know what this could be?

Thanks.
