In Reply to: I hate VA cops …Got ticket on 66E today (+long).. posted by pjb(dc) on October 04, 2000 at 17:33:17:

I was coming home from Summit Point Raceway, where I have to cross three states within 20 miles. These jerks were following me because of that "I'm the first car to get nailed" bullshit. I got sick of it so I nailed it for about two miles, up to 130 for a minute. Wouldn't you know it, the detecter pegged and I look to the left and there's a cruiser. I'm thinking jail time at that kind of speed, so I kept the pedal down for another two miles until I saw a barn close to the road. I nailed the brakes and swung behind the barn to ark. A few seconds later the cop goes buzzing by with the sirens flashing. At more than 50+ over the limit, who knows what they would have done. Impound the car, put me in jail, etc. I had to be at work in the morning. I'm glad I had the suspension mods on at that time, I don't think I could have pulled it off (running) without them. Of course, wouldn't have been going that fast without them. Hmmm.

I was heading home from work on 66 east this afternoon just taking it easy and relaxing behind the wheel. I was in the middle lane with the cruise set at 65 and I see a police cruiser parked on the right side of the road with the lights on about a quarter mile away. After I pass his location, and look in the rear-view a few seconds later, the lights are on and he is swerving through traffic to catch someone…wait a second its me. He just about crashes into the back of my car, so I throw in the hazards and pull over. I got a ticket for having tinted license plate frames on the front and back of my car(I don’t know how in the hell saw the plates that quickly from the side of the road). During the day, these things look clear as day too!

He said a law was just passed a month or so ago, so I kindly asked for just a warning (fix-it) and I would take the frames off immediately. NOPE! wrote me up and had an attitude to boot. Said it was nice of him to even show me the new regulation (he let me read the reg book while he wrote me up) and how im a menace to society…all because of a plate. Then he wouldn’t tell me the fine until he thoroughly explained that there was no way in hell he was letting this go, and he would be there in court if I contested. The fine was only 30 bucks, so he didn’t appreciate when I said “IS THAT ALL?” when I left the scene though, I made sure he heard the Mozart scream. Then he followed me another 5 miles almost into dc. What a jackass!! So if any of you in the dc/md/va area have the tinted frames, or no plate at all in the front just keep an eye out for this clown.
