Not sure, I saw a 1997 yellow M3 and it looked as if it had clearcoat and shined like brand new. I'm thinking of buying it, only 14k miles..

I had briefly remembered someone mentioning the fact that they faded easily over time (the paint), as my friend again reminded me that they did not come with a clear coat(?)..but damn, i go to test drive a yellow one that other than that was in prestine condition, and there's 3 different yellows on the car! The hood/doors/trunk are a medium yellow, and then the mirrors are practically beige cream, and the spoiler/side guards are the only parts that look like the pretty, original, more-orangish yellow..and the car has clean record, no accidents..no repaint..just all this fade, and STILL this car was supposedly babied (int was excellent)..what the F did BMW do!!! I mean, it seemed like waxing this car would seem pretty pointless..why wanna maintain a car with no coat? All 95s like this? thanks, PM3
