I have a 325is with 145,000mi and a 95M3 both have had no serious problems. Little things to look out for might be:

door latches being hard to open

computer or check control throwing false annoying messages(once in a while)

bubbling door panels(most likely someone messed with the window motor and unsealed the vapor shield)

Squeaky clutch pedal

False fuel gage readings after a fillup(make sure you leave the key in the off position when filling)

Sticking float in gas tank(not allowing a total fillup)

Overall these are rare mildy annoying problems with the E36. I love them still.

I am thinking of purchasing an E36 M3, most likely a 95 for modability. I have never owned a BMW, and I am wondering how reliable this particular model would be, since it would be my daily driver. Common problems, weak points, etc? Thanks for the advice.
