now, everyone knows about how incredibly sealed bmw trunks are. and without a ski pass/foldable armest in the rear seats, i have no ports whatsoever. so, the dilemma i am having is this:
1) keep the 4T speakers in the back (keep the 'fill'), install the sub box in the very sealed trunk and just hope for the best sound. if I do this, i can parallel the subs; or
2) do a trick install job creating ports in my rear deck, most probably by removing the rear 4T's and using the ports (or some other costly measure which might affect the rear's torsional rigidity-- hype?).
now, it seems that the true hardcore, audiophiles believe that removing the 'fill' seriously downgrades the sound. i believe that my mid's and tweeters up front are sufficient, but not precisely sure what removing the 4T's will do.
will i get good sound removing the rear speakers and replacing them with the sub's? would this be the same sound (or better) as the JL Stealthbox? or should i leave the rear speakers in? keep in mind that i don't want to spend big bucks on this upgrade.
any help appreciated. thanks in advance.
