Yup, only way. May want to ask the previous owner to ask dealership (asuming he is original owner). They charge for the code.

Got my 99 M3 last weekend and noticed in the owners manual that there's a wallet sized card with the radio code on it. I don't have it, and the previous owner says that he doesn't have it either.

If I disconnect the battery, is my stereo useless without the code? It's the HK stereo.

There's got to be some way to make it work without the code. Anyone know the procedure? I realize its an anti-theft feature, so if you know how to do it, but don't want to post the info, please email me.

Tom
