i remember reading somewhere that a car should not idle to long because the valves get carboned up that way and can make the engine run rough later on. not sure how true that is though but my own .02 is that its OK to idle for a min. when the car is first started cold. the M3 sure is easier to drive after a min. warm up because of the cold idle problem.
