I might need to brace the back as well since I have noticed that it seems softer in the rear with the strut brace installed in the front.

Anyone agree/disagree with doing the rear as well as the front?

I put on strut brace and x-brace at same time and noticed the same tightening that you experienced. I didn't noice any difference in ride though.
It's funny though that the next time I tracked my car after these were installed that the car felt light in the front on turn in, there was no loss of steering responce it just felt like I didn't have the same turn in feel. I like the mods though.
