Was the chassis used by McLaren to test the BMW V12 drivetrain for the F1 road car. At the time, they hadn't finished the carbon/kevlar bodyshell, but already had the drivetrain from BMW's Motorsport division. The Ultima used to be the bargain supercar. It can be fitted with just about any drivetrain you desire, with the smallblock Chevy/ZF transaxle, or the G50 or G60 Porsche transaxle adapted to midengine configuration.

The price for a rolling GTR chassis is somewhere in the $50-60K region, last time I looked. I think that you'll only ever see hard core enthusiasts with lots of money driving them now. That price puts it out of reach of most of the people who'd truly appreciate the dynamics of such a car.
