I currently have a 1997 Jetta VR6 that my mom is buying for my brother and a 1991 VW GTI 16v that is a racecar (Autox DSP & Opentrack). The E36 M3 is my favorite car in the world (that is realistically priced) and it's gonna be a weekend car. I drive my GTI (500lb. springs and all very soon) 5 miles to and from work each day. I got a quote on insuring the two cars and it wasn't too bad. $700 for 1/2 year. Which considering I am 24 with 1 point (2.5 years old) really isn't bad.

Mine has those 5 spokes, 43K mi, and was one owner car (by bimmer enthusiast). I may have overpaid but it, too, is spotless and so far troublefree.

I looked at another "perfect" car (wanted $28500 and wouldn't budge off price) with curb rash on all 10 spokes and scuffed front&rear bumpers. Otherwise, it was perfect and only 25K mi - but it didn't feel right.

Be sure to check for the normal stuff. Have it dealer inspected if you can.

Don't know what you're driving now but you'll love the M3. I gave up my '98 328i (selling tomorrow, I hope) for the older M3. I added some mods last weekend (ECIS Euro HFM kit) and am not done yet.
