The US M3 - love it, just bought one - great as it is, is just a bored/stroked 325 with a stiffer suspension. The rest is trim. They did do a fantastic job with it but it's not fundamentally different than the 330, especially the 330 with sport pkg option. From the standpoint of driving dynamics, I prefer the M3 because it's a bit edgier and transmits more road feel but the 330 is better and more refined in other areas. Plus, the 330 is new and has a 4 yr warranty. Comparing the 2 at the same cost, I'll go 330. If there's a significant discount for the M3 - as there was in my case - the M3 becomes a viable alternative. Anyhow, just a long-winded way of saying that it's the 330, not the new M3, that'll most affect E36 values.
