i am going to buy tires all around...right now i have 245/40/17 in the rear and 225/45/17 in the front on a set of original m-contours.

Any suggestions on the sizes i should get? should i retain the same size all around or keep the smaller in front/bigger in back? advantages/disasvantages????
please help.

I don't understand some of you guys. You buy a BMW because its the best designed and engineered car you can get and then you seem to think you can out engineer the experts at BMW by asking unknowns on the web.

Just keep your tire sizes as BMW intended and you won't have any unexpected problems. If you must play, just experiment with different tire brands. Even at that you may still be unhappy compared to the factory selected tires.
