I would recommend against an aperiodic membrane. The purpose of the membrane is really to allow a speaker to work in an area smaller than an acoustic suspension box (sealed) would allow. As you have a baffle aready there you can use a free air IB speaker instead. You should get as good if not better performance.

If you do go aperiodic I would recommend putting it on the back of the speaker (trunk side) rather than as lincoln did. Lincolns setup is beautiful. Nevertheless, he is effectively listening to a box in his trunk as the membrane is on the cabin side of the driver. At least in my case I found the sound of a box in the trunk to be poor.

I have been very happy with JL stealthboxes in the rear and MB Quart Qseries in the front. If I was to do it again I might look for a slightly nicer speaker up front and force a 6" in. This would require cutting if you don't want to lose your dead pedal. Also sound deadening the kick is needed as a single driver running down to 100Hz can make stuff rattle.

Rambling,
Eric
