PJ nailed it: Every time some guy on this board boasts about winning street races, I have to wonder what we're *not* being told. Were you drag racing from stoplight to stoplight, or road racing? Did you both know the road well enough to drive the quickest line, or did one of you have the advantage of familiarity? And who was willing to drive the craziest on a public street?

Hey, we all love our M3s, and we know their damn quick, but I personally don't want to read another racing story unless the author is ready to chronicle a full disclosure of the racing conditions.

All that said, I have a friend with an unmodified Mustang GT, and I have an unmodified M3. Sometime we'll race, and I'll post the results.

boils down to the fact that if you spend all that money on mods and then add all the perceived horsepower up (in your head) there's a basic assumption that your car is then that much faster than stock(that makes people mad when they get creamed).
Most of the Mustang/TA-Camaro /Corvette/and M3 tough guys never time their cars at the track. This is the true test of the combination and driver. The track is a very humbling experience. Most of our cars are much slower that we think they are or our driving style sucks. So my advice to all the tough guys is get the time slip before you start guessing based on street races.

Why do V8 guys get mad when we beat them in our M3'? I raced a guy with a Mustang GT with flowmasters and I don't know what else and beat his ass. I has 4 people in my car, he was by himself. Anyhow, after I beat him, he flipped me off. What a sore loser! Anyone else with similar experiences???
