As much as I hate to write this, It is very difficult to disprove radar and win this ticket. I know, I am a cop in California. You will not be able to argue that the device was faulty and the signs were misleading etc. My best advice is this: Do some research in your area regarding whether cops have to have Radar training and certification. If the cop has taken a radar operator class then you are screwed. If the cop has'nt, you may win. I would recommend that you set a court date and ask the cop some questions. If I told you every question to ask, I would have to write a book, so I'll give you a few. You may want to do some research on how a radar gun works and the terminology involved; most cops just use the radar and do not know the details of how it works. You can ask questions like 'officer, do you know what the low cosine effect is on radar?" Is she know's, then plead guilty and go to traffic school. If she does'nt, then she will look like a fool. This effect has to do with an incorrect speed being shown on the radar if the radar waves strike an object that interferres with the target; it's kinda complicated. Ask the officer what her training and experience with radar is. Has she been to to a radar operator class? Did she check the calibration of the radar before, during , and after the stop. Do some research on radar. You may be able to contact a police academy for some literature or get one of those beat a ticket books or something.
