the vibration my car has. It shakes so much that the trunk latch assembly rattles loud enough to hear inside the cabin. I spent a couple hours moving the peg around that the trunk catches onto, but to no avail. Still rattles when in drive or reverse (not neutral), but only with the brakes on (did I mention that it is a 97 M3/4 Auto?) I'm at my wits end. I noticed while trying to fix the trunk that there are other rattles that you can hear from the outside, but can't pick up on them when you're in the car (most likely b/c of the trunk noise). Will sway bars help this out at all? I don't know if it has anything to do with the transmission or brakes, but do know that if it is either of those that it will cost a good bit to fix (I got a quote on new brakes: $1000). I wonder if my car's idle speed should (hell, can it) be reset to 0? When I'm in drive and just let it coast I do get going pretty good (5-10 mph). I wonder if the vibration is just the transmission and brakes fighting to keep my car at a standstill. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I spend around 2 hours a day in stop and go traffic and the trunk rattle may just drive me insane (or at least to a lesser car (drove a 330Ci Saturday, not bad, but not in the same league as the M3)). I'd love to get this fixed and then just enjoy my M3 till the E46's come in.
