loaded shafts with rubber bases that screw into the trunk lid. It is a bit difficult to explain, but when you open the trunk, on the underside of the lid you will see two shafts sticking out. If you push these shafts, you will notice that they are spring loaded. I'm not sure whether they are intended to keep a constant tension or preload on the latch when the trunk is closed (to eliminate precisely what you're talking about) or whether they simply help dampen the shock when closing the lid. At any rate you can screw the rubber base of the shafts in and out to vary the amount of contact. That should do something at least.
