why I chose to connect with the existing 3rd brake light wire. Also, this is likely a more sound installation, as the factory wing is connected to the wiring harness in a similar manner. This method also preserves the "check control" function of the OBC. In other words, I would suspect that if you hack into the driver's side brake light wiring, the OBC would not detect the failure of the just the 3rd brake light or just the driver's side brake light. I think BOTH lights would have to fail in order for the OBC to detect the fault. However, there is an eletrical tool that can locate the driver's side brake light wire for you, if that is how you want to do it.
I wired mine to the deck 3rd brake light. Very easy. No problems whatsoever. You can also splice into the driver's side brake light.
