first, the august edition of road and track breaks down the differences in model years...2make a long story short they recommend the 97 coupe.

second, prices vary around the country. I used autotrader.com to get a feel for prices. roughly speaking, I would place 30K and below as a good price for a nice 97 and 25k and below as a good price for a 95.

bmw does offer an extended warrantee to 100K.

most of the cash you spend will be tires, brakes and the various "widgets" that will fail from time to time. drive train is race bred, reliable, and trouble free.
