My 91 VR-4 was hands down faster than my 97 M3. It launched faster, once I knew how to properly launch it, was faster on the highway (120 mph in 3rd gear), and was unreliable as all hell. Six trannies in nine years, three clutches, and countless sets of tires.

It also was a backroad monster. I never had a problem driving the car no matter what footwear I had on at the time, but I remember once against an automatic M3 I was caught sleeping and he jumped about a carlength ahead before I caught up with him at 70 mph, at which point we had to slow. I embarrased him badly at the next light, but that's the VR-4 - nothing this side of a GMC Typhoon can beat one properly launched from a stop.

Well, that's my opinion, only due to my experience.

last saturday I had the chance to properly school a 3000GT VR4 driver at a street race. He pulled up to the light next to me; I saw that he had 2 passengers; I had 3. On green, I sort of messed up the launch, spinning the tyres way too much, but after getting traction I pulled till he was way gone.. apparently he wasnt getting a good launch either. The women in the back were really thrilled with it too. Then he followed me to a bus stop and I asked him, "what went wrong?"

His answer?
"I can't drive properly with these shoes...."
