Thats not VW's fault, they were started under command by Hitler, and if they didn't do as he pleased, he would have just forced total government control upon the company, and then who knows what could have happened. i can't justify holding a grudge against a company, for things that happened so long ago that the people who *may have been responsible are in retirement homes. They are the best cars for the money, and are in the same price range as a honda, with high build quality, good reliability, and they are ez to tune. Frankly, I respect the incredible pain that Hitler and the german gov't caused to the various races of peoples that it discriminated against during WWII, but i wasn't alive 'till the '80's. how can i discard what may be the only truely well made new car in my price range based on this? What would i buy? A honda? Subaru????? Besides, despite how much i like my M3, my brothers '01 GTI VR6 is still damn fast and well built for the money, and a pleasure to drive. But, i guess some people are unreasonable and will never forgive... Pete
It doesnt matter how good of cars they produce... I would NOT buy one of their cars. They are a very shady company and they did have a terrible record for WWII... Yes that was a long time ago BUT they just admitted it like last year or the year before of their involvement... People were slaves for VW working in freezing conditions if they stopped, they were shot... And this is the same company that denied it for YEARS AND YEARS... They didnt want to admit it or even face lawsuits from families of the dead... SO they can make their cars as fast as they want i will still not/ NEVER buy one... I havent owned any, dont plan on it either...
Thanks,
