Easy way which I found off the web a while ago.

Park car somewhere with nothing in front or behind, just in case.

Install clutch stop at most extended.

Start car......press clutch and try to get into first. If there is any resistance, adjust down and try again. It will not grind....just will not go into gear.

Once you find where it engages first...put around 1/4" below that point.

Park on a flat surface and shift to first. See if the car moves at all (it shouldn't) with clutch down.

Worked well for me....had the thing installed in under 5 minutes with no problems in the last year plus.

I recently purchased a clutch stop for my M, but I have a question, how far out can I put it and still shift saftley? I know that if the gears grind that is too far(obviously), but can I put it in a position such that it the clutch will still barely be grabbing the flywheel thus muaking shifting difficult and causing more wear???

Basically, is it an all or nothing thing (grind/no grind) or is there a middle ground to be careful of too???
