Today I desided it was time to clean my throttle body so I took off what I belive is called the idle air body or 1st throttle body and saw just how bad it was.In the past I have removed the intake boot and sprayed inside with throttle body and carb clean spray, after today I have realized this doesn't seem to work that well. So after removing the first throttle body, spray a good amout of carb clean inside and around the walls. The throttle plate will be closed so you don't get the crap in your engine. Then with a clean towel wipe off all the grime untill it shines, also spray some cleaner on your towel and wipe down the area past your throttle plate by opening it up by hand. (turn that thing down below that your throttle cables are hooked to)After doing this and before reassembly you can tighten your throttle cables by reverse screwing the adjusters that are right below the throttle body untill they feel tighter but not so move the they move the plate itself (you still want it to be fully closed)This will make your throttle plate open fully once again, because after many times of slamming down your gas pedal the cable stretches. Well thats all, and remember a BMW is NOT just a car it is a status!(said with a grin)
