Don't worry, I'd be a complete moron to bend the brake pad backing plates. The ones I'm talking about are the rotor backing plates - the thin stamped steel ones behind the rotor. Many here have stated that if you bend them back toward the center of the car, the brakes will get additional cooling air. Not sure if it works or not, but I fugure it can't hurt.

I don't think you really want to bend your brake pads backing plates. You will not get full performance of your pads entire surface getting full and equal surface contact performance against the rotors. To solve a brake pad chattering issue you are putting your safety at risk by reducing your braking performance. There are other methods to reduce brake pad chatter. Or just live with it.
