In Reply to: Need Help removing the rear deck panel....(M) posted by Spencer on December 31, 2000 at 20:28:24:

S'up, Spencer? Happy New Year to 'ya.

Here's the plan. First, Fold down your rear seats. Then, take off the side elements of the seats by pulling on the top of them toward you. Pull HARD. After they release, lift up on them to completely remove them. Now take out the rear seat cushion by lifting up on the front half. Take it out of the car.

Now, lift up on the trim around your rear windows, but just the bottom half. Pop out your rear panels by pulling the upper half toward you. The easiest way is to get your fingers into the seat belt opening and just pulling back. Three plastic clips hold the panel in place. Repeat on the other side.

Now take off the C-pillar trim/sail panels by first popping out the rear interior lights. Poppring them out gives you a handle in which to pull the panels off. each panel in held in by 4 metal clips. pull the panel AWAY from you toward the back window and slightly upward. Oh yeah, make sure you clean your hands before handling the panels. They are dirt magnets!

OK, now that you have completely disassembled your interior of you beloved 95 coupe, you're ALMOST ready to get to the rear parcel shelf. Now pop out the 4 clips that hold the plastic panel. You WILL destroy them in the process of removing them. And yes, they are a BITCH to remove. Don't reuse these clips when reassembling. Try using plastic rivets instead, the kind where you can pull up the center pin to remove the rivet. For an example, check out your radiator shroud. You've got two of them there.

Now remove the black plastic strip. You can now finally slide the parcel shelf out toward you. I guarantee you that if you try any shortcuts to these procedures, you'll end up bending/scuffing/destroying your interior trim. Expensive stuff. Believe me, I know.

Howz that? Let me know if you have any other questions. Take care, Spencer. See you at a meet soon!
