Car Stereo headache....need some answers (archive)

I have a 1996 M3. I had a 4 channel Kenwood, and a MTX pro thunder amp with 2 Fosgate tens that I pulled out of my old car. I just installed the amps, tens, and I replaced the speakers up front with Kenwood Excelon seperates (5.25 in kick panel and tweeter where the midrange goes) and 5.25 2-way Excelons in the rear deck. I am using the stock head unit and an adaptor from the line input to RCA's.
I removed the factory amp.

Here are my 2 problems: I have a hiss that is present no matter what is playing cd or radio (I know this is probably from hi to low level input adaptor) and 2. I have NO bass. Those germans make one hell of trunk/back seats!!! I get bass if I fold the seats down, but who wants to drive around in an m3 with the seats down.

Where can I get a "stock looking" blaupunkt or alpine headunit that has the orange lights and that has 2 preamp outputs? If I can't find that, I am thinking about getting the sony that folds down half way, and shows an all black face. As for the speakers...I want to add 6x9 to the rear deck and slide the little 5.25's over, or put the 6x9 in the middle of the rear deck. I am not looking for HUGE bass, but I don't have any right now! Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
