Does glovebox 12V "brick" jumpstarter work? (more) (archive)

You've probably seen the ads in the WSJ, etc. for the $50 rechargable brick battery that you're supposed to keep in the glovebox, then plug into the cigarette lighter to jumpstart a dead battery. I find the whole thing very hard to believe (supposed to retain adequate charge for 5 years -puh-leez). Nevertheless, if it actually worked it would be a great thing to have. Anyone have any experience with these?
