When mulletjoe.com has a mullet dubbed the "Camaro Cut", you know you're in trouble. But, for all its white trash splendor, you have to respect the LS1. 310 at the rear wheels? Yeah. See www.1le.net/~1le/camaro_frame.html for a '98 LS1, stock except for a "whisper lid" and cat back exhaust, that put out 316 at the rear wheels on the dyno.

And I've seen similar numbers from the LS1 in magazines and on other boards so this is representative. If only GM would put this motor in a respectable car and sell it here(Holden Commadore SS anyone?)!

I give the M3 plenty of credit. So much so that I'm going to plunk about 30 large on one. But I'm smart enough to know that 0-60 is only part of the drag racing story. An '00 SS tested in the 12/99 issue of MT hit 60 in 5.3 actually, indeed close to a stock M3. But, that same Camaro took only 12.3 seconds to reach 100. A WS6 T/A tested in the same issue only took 11.6 to reel in 100. A '99 M3 tested by CD, in contrast, took 16 seconds to nail 100.

The LS1 F-body's 0-100 time is closer to that of the new M5, which takes 11.3 seconds to run that sprint. FYI, a Euro M3 takes 13.1.

Now, damn it, someone get me a Schlitz and let's head on over to Taco Bell ;-)
