I can speak from experience here. I have both a '97 M3 (5 speed) and a '98 Z28 (6 speed). Sorry, but in a straight line, you're going to get killed, especially since he's got an automatic (MUCH easier to launch from a stop). That pretty much takes the driver out of the picture.

My car dyno'd 294 RWHP/314 RWTQ 100% stock. With just an MTI airbox and a Borla catback it's currently at 317 RWHP/327 RWTQ (on a Dynojet 248C). GM has seriously underrated these LS1's. The 2001 cars are even better (like 330 RWHP stock - I'm deadly serious here).

In absolute numbers, the M3 will win every other performance contest, but not by as much as you might think. Braking is close, the f-body's have pretty good brakes (2 piston PBR calipers). Handling is close in numbers terms, but the M3 is much better balanced and weighs about 500 lbs less. They are close enough that on a track the driver will make the difference.
