The car ran fine, the problem was that the CE light kept coming on. So I dropped it off again last Sat. and guess what they told me again... software update.
As I mentioned before, they updated the software and it didn't fix the problem. There was also a hose that connects to the supercharger and crankcase with a crink in it, so I had the hose replaced.
Long beach BMW had my car for 7 days, and while it was there I spoke to Eric at Dinan to get a second opinion. He thinks the problem is not software related, and suggested I talk to the mech. in Long Beach. I spoke with the mech. for half an hour, and he said he has seen this before and that a new software update would fix it, so I left it at that. My mistake...
I picked up my car yesterday, (30 miles there, 30 miles back) and 10 minutes away from home, my CE light comes on again, but with a twist...my car is now smoking a little and smells funny. I look under the hood and the hose that was replaced is more crinked than before, It appears to be new a hose, just all crinked up.
I believe the hose is a breather hose, and the fact it was crinked up, starved the motor of the proper air/fuel mixter and caused it to run too lean. (hence the smoke?)
Long beach had me call road side asst. and they came with a flat bed an hour later to pick up my car. Long beach also has a loaner car for me now, but not before. (Did I happen to mention the loaner car is *Bling*Bling Gold?) hehe
Sorry for the ranting... but I have a few of questions:
1. Would a simple road test determine the CE light and the smoke? (I think so...)
2. Will the fact that my motor was running lean for 30 miles hurt the motor in any way?
3. Is there another way to handle this, so It does not keep on happening?
Thanks for listening, I feel better.
