I've repaired BMWs at the shop that had to be towed in because the vehicle wouldn't start yet battery voltage is good.

Of the vehicles that came in, it needed an EWS control module. What happens is that the software or programming would be lost or think you have the "code" function on even though you didn't set a code.

Hopefully your vehicle is still under warranty. Only the parts depts from a BMW dealer can order you the EWS control unit and only a technician with the MoDiC or DIS can code and align the EWS and the DME together. The EWS is gonna be ordered from Germany but your vehicle maybe out for 2 or 3 days. 4 at the most.
