The 330i is too cushy even with sports pkg. I should know as I have one. I have test drove 2 M3/4's in the past 2 weeks.

The 330i has a vague clutch (and becoming notchy for some reason) and even vaguer steering. The M3 has wonderfully weighted and communicative steering. Ditto the clutch and throttle action.

The 330i will out-brake the M3, no question. The engine is a torque monster. However, it does have some rpm "hang" on the first to second shift, apparently due to emission requirements.
