No wonder people can't quantify the performance increase of a fly - so much power that the car just sits there and smokes the rubber. Amazing. All those poor fools out there who went out and purchased turbos and SC's, when all they needed was a fly. Just imagine if and when you turbo - you'll need to install a quattro drive train and racing slicks in order to get any forward propulsion whatsoever ;)

i have been researching flywheels for a while now and have decided to get one over a pulley because the gains are better.

doesn't yield any hp and torque?
true and false. it doesn't yield CRANK hp or torque, but it makes more REAR WHEEL hp and torque by making the drivetrain more efficient and getting more power to the wheels. not sure about actual numbers, but allows 50 feet of rubber when you mash the pedal at 5mph. combined with other mods, you will see bigger gains in RWHP with a flywheel than with a pulley.

some, only at slow acceleration and it is very slight.

reprogram ecu with higher idle?
nope. that's completely false if you get the AA 12 lb flywheel. i can't account for the other 10.4 lb ones.

allows engine to rev faster?
yup! will run to redline at an amazing speed. shift fast!

i decided to get a lightweight flywheel after much thought and deliberation because i thought it was a better mod. many tuners and racers prefer the flywheel over a pulley because it yields more useable power in those situations. a flywheel will magnify the power made at the crank to the rear wheels, though it does not make any real CRANK hp. a pulley adds power at the crank which is still subject to drivetrain losses.

another thing that pushed me more towards a flywheel is that i decided to get a heavy duty clutch. i plan to add an AA turbo in a year or so. so instead of having to spend 2x the labor to get the job done, i got both at the same time.

i personally prefer the flywheel. i will give a full review of my own personal car when i get it back wed. i would have it already but there have been many complications with getting parts.
