Neither really necessary for normal to spirited street driving. If you do track time get the gas slotted - any cross drilled other than Porsche which are cast holes will crack. Best buy I've seen is the Euro rotors & stock rears gas slotted from Eurasian at ~ $525 for all 4 - add upgraded pads/stainless brake lines & Motul or super blue & you're set for most normally aspirated M3's.
