My right rear brakeshoe (for emergency brake) got caught up on my rotor after a weekend long BMWCCA school. What happened was the new brake pads and drivers school must have cause the rotor to warp in someway. Anyway, whatever happened I had to replace the rear rotors and emergency brake stuff(sorry I am not up with all the correct part names). I also had a noise near the emergency brake handle, that told me the cable loosen up somehow. I am not sure if this is the same problem you had but....good luck.
