To add a new remote to your exsisting system you will need a chip kit, replace the chip in the car alarm moduel, in the exsisting remote and the new remote.

Bought a used '95 M3, but it only came with one remote. Do I need to cut wire traces or set dip switches?

any help appreciated.

Save your original buttons, the Alpine ones are labeled differently but you can use the old ones. The buttons perform the exact same functions as the 'BMW' remote which, of course, was made by Alpine.
