My '99 came with the Pilot Sports from the factory, and after much research, the Pole Positions seemed to be better tires, and cost less. (From TireRack at least.) I put them on about two weeks ago, and really like them. Compared to my balding Pilots, the PPs handle phenominally in the rain, and are probably as good in the dry. (If there's a difference, it's marginal.) The truth is, most M3 drivers do not push their tires, let alone their cars, to the limits that they are designed for, and any incremental difference is not noticeable. My only peeve about the Bridgestone's is that they are a bit quieter, and a bit smoother than the Pilots were. (It takes away a little from the agressive feel. Hopefully once they wear down a bit they will behave similarly.) If you go with S-02 route, you will not be disappointed.
