My maintenance manual says that the m3 does not have a
microfilter, is that true???

Hi Frank,

I work for 3M and we are a cabin air filter supplier to BMW. Your car should have the filter as all E36's have the same air conditioning unit and filter. I have a 97 M3 and just changed my filter last week. It is kind of a hassle to do as it reuires you to remove the glovebox to access the filter. The total job requires about 45 minutes. However, doing it your self is defintely less expensive than having a shop do it.
