If you would drive these cars (Passat 4Motion vs. A4 Quattro sport), Golf (any model) vs. TT 225, you'll see how different they really feel, in spite of some mechanicals that they share. I know I did, and ended up with an A4.

Remember that BMW tried to do the same thing with Rover, it just didn't work very well and they had to bail out. Life is strange and you never know what the future will bring.

To complete you equation above, A6=A4=Passat :). Well, it's a "stretched" and improved version of the same platform (but allows for bigger engines like the V8).
