That sounds pretty frightening dude. I'm also a little confused. You say "most of this mileage was put on in a little under 8 mo." What do you mean? If the car had 73,000 on it (hopefully KM, lol) in 4/99, then it lost 42,000 miles in just under 2 years (I'm presuming the dealer is saying 31,000 miles now). I'm no math major but that somehow seems a bit off.

If you cannot gain access to accurate service records verifying the current mileage, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run!
