I live in Portland, OR & know exactly what you are talking about on the price of used M3’s. It’s a supply & demand issue. Compared to other parts of the country there are not many M3’s for sale in the northwest. My guess it’s due to the fact that the official vehicle of the Northwest is 4x4’s & SUV’s. Actually I can’t talk too bad about SUV’s since I own a Suburban as my general-purpose utility vehicle.

When I went looking for my M3, I scoured the Internet & newspapers for the southwest part of the country. Eventually, within 2 months, I found a car with the options & colors that I wanted in Phoenix, AZ. I had it inspected, the owner sent me photos & then I flew to Phoenix, checked out the car for myself & drove it back to Portland. Overall even with my travel expense I saved about $5K to $6K when compared to the NW M3 prices.
